One week since my dreaded review passed over.Well to be honest It was not bad as I expected. It could not have been better.Nothing eventful happened as I thought.
The fun started the minute I boarded Cheran Express on Sunday night.Four months back, what was a routine back-from-weekend trip meant so much to me.As usual the train seemed laden with my juniors,sub-juniors,seniors,super-seniors et al.Most of the journey went in catching up on old times(I could not believe I had been away for just four months). There was so much to talk and gossip about.
As we pulled into Coimbatore Junction all Softies headed off to hostel as one big group of noise-making devils.Entering into familiar domain(LH - Ladies Hostel) we were given a rousing welcome by everybody from Aunty stores' aunty to mess supervisor. We marched off to E-Block where our dear juniors were put up.With much mumbling, we dragged ourselves to Y-201 ( after a typical hurried mess idli breakfast).
Bored of the trying-to-act-attentive routine in Y-201 I made a hasty exit to hostel and took some respite in my favorite Aunty Stores' sappota juice. Most of Monday went off in slapping people backs(cordial welcome my style - Ashwin will post in more details) and pitching in with new happening gossip. For night stay me, Divya, Ramya, Somwya made our way to Jayashree's place. The journey to her house would take up an entry all by itself.
Like earlier times in hostel we spent time talking all at the same time alongside gobbling food. The next day morning was a blur of activity as all five struggled to get ready in decent time.Post breakfast we headed off to college.Back in college it was hang-your-ID-cards and hide-your-mobiles time(the rule Keerthi seemed to be totally oblivious of).
The morning session went off devoid of any major mishaps.Though CTS people got pulled up for repeating RDF and Semantic Web quite so often everybody agreed that they could not help but do so.
Post a slightly heavy lunch(compared to the sandwich and fruit routine at Blore) I started sleep-listening through the afternoon sessions(nothing quite new for me).I kept looking when at my watch. When would it reach that golden time of 3:30 when I would be due for my presentation.I was making some last minute changes and giving mock sessions with Keerthi as my unwilling audience.Presto it was 3:10 and Soundarajan had finished.Next in line was Niranjan and his guide(HOD) had shown no signs of arrival.
I decided this was going to be my lucky moment and I was about to start with my presentation instead of waiting for HOD to come. Our tutor gave the go-ahead and then walked in my worst fear. With his brisk walk and sinister smile he made me double over in apprehension. What if I am the unlucky person to get pulled up by him. What if he starts off on his line of questioning.Well guess I was doomed with numerous possibilities one worse than the other.
Luckily Niranjan's show was a short affair(not more than ten minutes). I made my walk to the podium.Wow,from my vantage position I could see the vast majority was deep asleep.I caught hold of my junior Mahesh who seemed all ears.I decided here is where I should focus and deliver.I started off talking about our organization and product in good amount of detail encouraged by Mahesh's frequent interested nods.At one point of time there appeared a yawn on his face. Then it dawned, have I been talking for quite long.As I was deciding whether it was time for the end, my tutor prompted to make it fast.Good I was not mistaken I have indeed been talking for quite long then.Quickly(not quick enough though as I went on for another five minutes) I drew my presentation to an end and out walked HOD.Great had I been talking long enough to bore him out of asking questions!!
Here and there two or three people asked some questions for curiosity sake and off I went back to being one among the audience.I rounded my friends for feedback. They bombarded and questioned the reason for such elaboration.I could not believe that I had gone on for about forty minutes though I knew I was certainly capable of it.
Immediately I was dragged back to hostel and I spent the rest of the evening catching up with my juniors and seniors.Ragging,Login,IVs all hit my ears at the same time!!
Amidst all this chit-chatting I packed stuff as off I went to Bangalore at night. As a huge gang of twelve people me and my classmates made our way back to coffee-laden-endless-intern-working-days-and-nights.
